We would like to give thanks...

God uses His creation to show His love. The April 6, 2008 gathering at St. Peter's Lutheran church uplifted the hearts of the Langhorst family. Special thanks to Don Bremer for his timely work in launching MoysMission.org, thank you Don for your patience and talents. We also thank Tarey Johnson our Northwoods-Exposure webmaster. The Hagen family, known for their heavenly voices, sang many songs reminding all that our Redeemer lives! Thank you Kelly, Lonnie and Lynsey. Thank you Star Gazette's Jerry Derungs for the announcement inviting folks to remember Moy. Thank you Pastor Vogt for your comforting sermon assuring all that Jesus lives and the victory's won and now is death but the gate of life immortal. Finally, we thank our bothers and sisters in Christ at St. Peter's whom we always count on each week for mutual consolation in Word and Sacrament. All praise, glory and thanks be to God for showing Moy that his Redeemer lives so that he lives!

The LAMAR sign on I-35, remembering the fallen Marines from our area turns the eyes of many toward hope and peace. Grateful we are for their generosity and for recognizing our sons sacrifice in a way that will eternally bless those with eyes to see. LAMAR's tribute continues to be one of the best!!! Thanks.

The 2009 MN State Bible Bowl Competition was held at Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday, March 28th. The annual event had thirty-four teams competing. Teens, 7th through 12th grade from Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches throughout Minnesota met for the one day event. Team members from the Emmanuel (Barnum) and St. Peter's (Moose Lake) Lutheran Churches began studying for the competition last October. Teens studied the Gospel of John on Sunday mornings as a group and spent time reading the scripture on their own.

The competition consisted of two teams with 3 to 4 players competing against one another in a question and answer quiz format. The Moose Lake and Barnum groups were split into two teams. The"B" team missed a trophy by one game: they placed seventh. The"B" team members were Caleb Vogt, Lauren Hultgren, Megan Bothwell and Lynsey Hagen. The"A" team has not been given their official results of placement at this time."A" team members were Seth Vogt, Zack Kuhlman, Amanda Fisher and Rachel Vogt.

The teens were also given an individual test where the top six scores received a trophy. Here are several questions taken from the test. Jesus said that He does not accept praise from whom? Answer: Men. Why did Lazarus get sick and die? Answer: For God's glory so that God's son may be glorified. How many pounds of myrrh and aloes did Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus use in Jesus' burial? Answer: About 75 lbs. The test consisted of 50 questions and the top six scores were above 43.

In memory of Moy Langhorst, who gave his life for his country while serving in Iraq, team members and coaches wore t-shirts that honored Moy's faith and service to his country. Moy was a member of the Emmanuel/St. Peter's Bible Bowl team as a youth and a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:14-15
